Adding up to 10

I am learning to write number sentences to 10.  I use the number line to help me count on.  I am working towards trying to do this in my head.

Phonics

We are learning to listen and record the sounds we can hear.  We are able to blend the sounds altogether.  We can use our phonics at Story writing and Reading time to help us.

" I can robot my sounds so you can use them at Reading and story writing.  We can learn more words." said Cruz

Making Pizza

We made pizza as a class, using ingredients that we had grown ourselves. 

These photos show the writing process. We started with the 'draft stage', where students try to use the skills they have been taught. After 'conferencing' with the teacher and 'editing', they produce the 'published work' for their audience to enjoy.

Paper bear

We learnt how to draw a teddy bear looking at the different shapes that make up the head and arms. We wrote about our bear and published it onto a paper bag.

Cats

I have been learning how to draw a cat.  I can mix colours together and I can also use charcoal to show shading.

Reading for Meaning

I am learning to go back and read the sentence again to see if it makes sense and if I can work out what a word might be.

Deep in the compost bin!

As part of our inquiry we have been looking at creatures that dwell in the darkness of our compost bins.

After we observed and handled these creatures, watched video clips and read books about them; we wrote these fabulous stories.

Part of the writing process is presenting our finished work in a way the captures our readers attention. We hope you enjoy viewing our quality work!

Subtracting Bees!

The skittles game is a fun way to learn about subtraction problems to ten. You also have to try and write a number sentence that matches the number of skittles standing up and lying down.

Student Lead conferences

I am learning to play Murtle Turtle because it helps me add numbers onto 5.

Scooter day

We are learning to keep ourselves safe when we are on a scooter.

Story writing

I am learning to write my story by myself.  I can use my word card and my sounds to help me write the words.

Cruz said " I can use the blue card to help me with the words.  I need to do finger spaces all the time."

Reading

I am learning to make the first sound with new words when I am reading.  I get my mouth ready to make the sound.

Cruz " I can make the first sound so you know what the word is."

Self Portrait

I am learning to draw a self portrait.  I am able to put all the features in the correct place.

I am learning to use finger spaces all the time.  I can use blue tac or my finger to help me.

Before and After numbers

I am learning my before and after numbers to 10.  I am able to use a number line if I need help.

Cruz- " I can write 8 before 9 and 10 comes after.  I can get the number card to help me.

Swimming

I am learning to get in the pool safely.  I am able to put my head under water and blow bubbles.  I am learning to use my arms.

Cruz-" I can kick my legs and go under the water down to the ground."
